JUSTUS is an application designed to enhance personal safety and well-being by promptly notifying your contacts and community in the event of an emergency. Picture a scenario where you sense danger lurking behind you, or footsteps closing in on you, signaling trouble. As your heart races and your mind whirls, with a simple voice command or the push of a button, assistance is immediately within reach. The Just Us app empowers users with a single touch to seize control of the situation and safeguard themselves.

Utilizing hands-free, voice-activated technology, Just Us can trigger alerts, commence live-stream video, and share the user’s GPS location with up to five specified contacts.

• Check In: Informs designated contacts of the user's safety status by sharing an updated pinned location. Free alerts are disseminated through text messages along with the user's pinned location.
• JUST US Heads Up: Activates live streaming and notifies contacts when the user is pulled over by law enforcement.
• JUST US Help: Raises alarms by alerting contacts and nearby users in real-time with GPS location and live video feed when heightened concerns are detected.

A subscription fee of $4.99 per month or $49.99 annually is required for real-time live-streaming of video content. Users who opt-in will also have their livestream broadcasted on their Facebook page during an incident.

JUSTUS was developed by a Black woman for the benefit of the Black and Brown communities under the ethos that "Sometimes justice is up to JUST US."

Research indicates that individuals from Black and Brown communities are subjected to more frequent vehicle stops compared to white drivers, leading to disproportionate injuries or fatalities during encounters with law enforcement. Furthermore, hate crimes have surged to a 16-year peak, heightening risks during routine daily activities like jogging, taking out the trash, or using rideshare services.

• Positioning a phone holder in the car angled towards the driver's window can aid in capturing encounters with law enforcement effectively if such situations arise.
